AIAThe American Institute of Architects
For 150 years, members of the American Institute of Architects have worked with each other and their communities to create more valuable, healthy, secure, and sustainable buildings and cityscapes. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., the institute has 77,000 members, from licensed architects to emerging professionals and allied partners in design.

 

RIBARoyal Institute of British Architects
The Royal Institute of British Architects, or RIBA, is one of the most influential architectural institutions in the world, promoting architecture and architects since being awarded its Royal Charter in 1837. The institute is a 30,000 member organization, with headquarters in central London along with a dozen regional offices.

 

LSALightweight Structures Association
The Lightweight Structures Association, or LSA, is a division of the Industrial Fabrics Association International (IFAI). The purpose of the LSA is to promote the use and growth of lightweight structures and to represent the interests and concerns of the lightweight structures industry in the Americas.

Lightweight structures are characterized by having a rather small mass relative to the applied load, which is determined through an optimization process. Lightweight Structures are defined as tensile (or tension) structures, frame supported, air supported, air inflated, cable net, cable-and-strut (also referred to as “tensegrity”), geodesic domes and grid shells.

 

USGBCUnited States Green Building Council
The United States Green Building Council, or USGBC, is a non-profit composed of a community of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work.

With more than 9,000 member organizations and a network of 75 regional chapters to its credit, the USGBC is united to advance our mission of transforming the building industry to sustainability, changing the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated. The organization envisions an environmentally responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life.

 

IFAIIndustrial Fabrics Association International
The Industrial Fabrics Association International, or IFAI, is a not-for-profit trade association with more than 2,000 member companies representing the international specialty fabrics marketplace. Member companies range in size from one-person shops to multinational corporations; members' products span the entire spectrum of the specialty fabrics industry, from fiber and fabric suppliers to manufacturers of end products, equipment and hardware. The IFAI facilitates the development, application and promotion of products manufactured by its diverse membership.

 

IFAIAmerican Society of Civil Engineers
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a professional organization designed to represent members of the civil engineering profession worldwide. Founded in 1852, it is the oldest national engineering society in the United States. ASCE sponsors a large number of professional publications in the United States related to civil engineering and also sponsors awards to recognize outstanding work in various areas of civil engineering. With 123,000 members worldwide, ASCE is headquartered in Reston, Virginia.

 

IFAIAmerican Institute of Steel Construction
American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) is a not-for-profit technical institute and trade association. Established in 1921, its purpose as an organization is to serve the structural steel design community and construction industry in the United States. AISC's mission is to make structural steel the material of choice by being the leader in structural-steel-related activities. These activities include specification and code development, research, education, technical assistance, quality certification, standardization, and market development.

In addition to designers, contractors, and owners, fabricators and erectors are also affiliated with AISC to become AISC Certified. AISC Certification sets a standard for the steel industry. Companies that are AISC Certified have been through a rigorous initial evaluation, and are subject to yearly reviews.

 

IFAIAmerican Welding Society
The American Welding Society (AWS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the science, technology, and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering, and thermal spraying. The society has about 50,000 members, most within the United States, though the AWS also conducts events and individual section and district meetings in international locations as well as throughout the United States.

The organization is known for its code and certification procedures, which provide industry standards for the welding and joining of metals, plastics and other materials. AWS certifies welders, inspectors, engineers, fabricators, radiographic interpreters, and robotic arc welders.

 

IFAIAssociated General Contractors of America
Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) is the largest and oldest national construction trade association in the United States. AGC was founded in 1918 and is headquartered in Washington DC. Operating nationwide, AGC represents more than 32,000 leading firms in the industry, including general contractors, specialty contractors and service providers and suppliers. AGS represents all facets of commercial construction for both public and private entities including building, highway, and municipal projects.
