About / Corporate Overview

Since its establishment in 1956, Birdair has been committed to the technological development of custom tensile architecture applications.

In 1957, the Buffalo, N.Y., home of company founder Walter Bird was pictured on the front cover of LIFE magazine. It featured an air-supported pool enclosure in winter, as a glimpse of life in the future.

Birdair continues that innovative spirit today, working as a specialty contractor with architects and owners in the construction of lightweight tensile architectural structures of all sizes and complexities. To date, the company has completed more than 300 major installations in more than 30 countries, requiring over 30 million square feet of architectural fabric membrane.

Each job is unique, using the latest materials, and treated with the utmost attention to detail.

Birdair’s mission is to satisfy the client completely. By partnering early in the design-build process and utilizing the versatility of fabric membrane, steel and cable systems, no architectural vision is beyond reach.
