Birdair’s architectural designs, combined with glass skylights or simply by itself, make a trip to the grocery store or local mall a more pleasurable experience.
When used in retail establishments, Birdair’s fabric membranes allow an abundance of diffused natural light to pour through, bringing the outdoors “inside.”
Utilizing materials such as PTFE-coated fiberglass, PVC-coated polyester, or TiO2 (titanium dioxide, Birdair’s new self-cleaning fabric membrane), designers accomplish three key goals: First, diffused light reduces
glare, hot spots and merchandise fading. Second, by lowering the demand for indoor lighting, energy costs are minimized, saving businesses money. And, stores become an aesthetic piece of architecture, featuring a bright, welcoming atmosphere for
customers and a low-maintenance, weather-resistant system that will not discolor when exposed to the sun’s UV light.
In Chicago, the Navy Pier is an excellent example of how Birdair’s team of engineers and designers collaborated with architects to create a lasting imprint on an existing regional destination.
This designated Chicago historic landmark, opened in 1916, showcases an extensive collection of restaurants, shops and entertainment venues, as well as recreational and exhibition facilities. Birdair’s Pepsi Skyline Stage, located near the
famed Grand Ballroom, echo the famous building’s arching roofline, connecting the landmark’s graceful past with a contemporary and vibrant future.
