The world-renowned San Diego Convention Center, located between downtown San Diego and the Pacific Ocean, was recently named one of the best designed centers in the world by Expo magazine. Each year, the convention center hosts hundreds of events, conventions and trade shows, so a visually intriguing design was essential.
Birdair's PTFE-coated glass-fiber fabric offers a unique design solution representative of ocean waves, covering 8,400 square-meters of the structure's center, serving as an impressive aesthetic addition to the city. The span of the membrane is 91.5 m while the height of the masts (that help to aid in the tensioning of the fabric) are 27 m in length.
