Designed by world-renowned architect Peter Eisenman, The University of Phoenix Stadium is the National Football League's newest venue and home to the Arizona Cardinals.

This facility, which opened for the 2006 season, can seat 75,000 people and uses more than 93,000 square feet of highly translucent PTFE architectural fabric membrane. It has an open, airy feel, even when the roof is closed.

The stadium features two large retractable roofing panels that can expose the entire playing field to sunlight while providing maximum shading for fans. These panels, which roll on a steel roof structure will open or close in about 12 minutes. The roof can remain closed for efficient air conditioning to give fans much-needed relief in the summer months. At other times, the roof can be opened to take advantage of the Valley’s cooler climate cycles.

The University of Phoenix Stadium also features a unique roll-in field, the first fully retractable natural grass field in North America. This feature gives the stadium the ability to host basketball, soccer, concerts, consumer shows, motorsports, rodeos and corporate events. The University of Phoenix Stadium is scheduled to host Super Bowl XLII in February 2008.
