Tensile Materials / Cable Structure

Birdair’s cable systems are extremely strong and provide the tensile architecture structures with their uniquely appealing exterior shape.

David L. Lawrence Convention Center - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USAThe dramatic perception of increased interior space gives each structure an architectural enhancement with signature appeal.

As a specialty contractor, Birdair designs, engineers, supplies and installs the cable, integrating these phases into each custom building project. These cables, which can be used on projects using fabric membrane, glass, metal mesh or other heavy duty materials, offer great versatility to architects and owners during the design-build phase.

Birdair cable systems can also be used without architectural fabric membrane, providing support for solid metal roofing systems in buildings such as the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, PA.

These cable components can be embedded into fabric and concealed from view, clamped to existing building structures using exposed ports for a more industrial appearance, or simply laid across each other in an interlocking pattern to act as a net, supporting the weight of custom canopies for all to see.

Birdair's expert supply-chain management ensures that all materials required for a project – from clamping and fabric membrane to cable, anchors and structural steel – are delivered on-time and to exact specification.
