Ravenna Sports Palace

This complex, located in Ravenna, Italy, is also called Mauro de Andre Mansion and was designed with the sole purpose of giving Ravenna the necessary space to host major events, including sporting events, concerts, and art festivals.

Location: Ravenna, Italy
Fabric Type: PTFE Fiberglass
Market Sector: Stadiums / Arenas
Project Size: 32,000 sq.ft.
Architect: Carlo Maria Sadich
Engineer: Studio Technico Majowiecki, Bologna, Italy
Owner: Grouppo Ferruzzi, Ravenna City Municipality
General Contractor: Flammini Engineering/Secta s.r.l.
Completion Date: August 10, 1990

It has been used regularly to host some of the most important artistic events of the Ravenna Festival, ranging from operas and orchestras to symphonies and choirs.

Approximately 3, 800 people can find a place in the building, which can be radically changed according to what event is scheduled to take place. This is because of the presence of large steps that move outside through a system of rails, thus clearing the central area.

The Palace features a fabric membrane dome comprised of 5,307 square meters of translucent fiberglass PTFE. The dome opens electrically to secure internal ventilation.
