ETFE Film Provides Rooftop Shade and Aesthetics of Disney Springs Coca Cola Store
Open to the public in 2016 with a design team consisting of architect Baker Barrios, structural engineering firm Amore Engineering and general contractor, DPR construction – Birdair designed, fabricated and installed 48 triangular 2-layer white colored ETFE cushions supported by a custom tree-like white painted steel system covering a total of 3,800 sq.ft. While ETFE film is typically selected for its transparency, Coca Cola elected to go with more of a translucent film choosing white ETFE, helping to protect patrons from the sun and rain while enjoying a nice cold Coke beverage. Designed to appear as a remodeled vintage industrial space, this 18,000 sq.ft. project is an iconic cornerstone at the newly re-imagined Disney Spring’s entertainment complex at Walt Disney World.
