College Football Hall of Fame scored a touchdown when they selected Birdair to construct an insulated tensioned membrane roofing system at its new home in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, which is also adjacent to a well-known Birdair tensile roof, the Georgia Dome. Originally located in South Bend, Indiana, this new venue will be crowned with an approximately 15,000-square-foot tensile roof over an indoor playing field.

“Birdair is excited to be part of such an important project for college football fans across the United States,” said Joseph Gray, Senior Project Manager, Birdair North America. “One of our nation’s premier pastimes deserves a marquis building to celebrate its popularity while embracing its rich history. We’re proud to put one of our marquis products on this well-designed structure.”

The College Football Hall of Fame was designed by architectural firm Thompson, Ventulett, Staninback with engineering firm Sykes Consulting, Inc. and general contractor, Brasfield & Gorrie. Birdair's scope of work included design, fabrication, supply and installation of the insulated tensile membrane roofing system.

The Birdair roofing system features an insulated tensioned membrane composite system called Tensotherm™. Helping to achieve and enhance thermal performance, this system utilizes an 8mm translucent blanket of aerogel insulation, the world's lightest insulating solid. Not only does Tensotherm™ provide natural daylighting within the space below, but because of the insulation blanket, the material performs as an excellent dampener of sound.
