Libreville Airport Canopy

Libreville Airport Canopy, Where Innovation Meets Elegance with Taiyo Europe's PVC Membrane Expertise

Location: Libreville, Gabon
Fabric Type: PVC Membrane
Market Sector: Transportation
Project Size: 17760 sq.ft.
Architect: Taiyo Europe Design
Engineer: MakMax Australia (Steel + Membrane)
Completion Date: September 1, 2019

Starting in November 2018, the management of Libreville Airport embarked on a mission to revamp the Minute Stop zone located in front of the terminal. Their primary goal was to provide shelter from the elements, particularly rain, for passengers. To realize this vision, they enlisted the expertise of Taiyo Europe, Birdair's sister company, for a comprehensive project encompassing architectural design, engineering, fabrication, delivery, and installation of a striking canopy structure.

The outcome of this endeavor proved to be nothing short of impressive. Two expansive canopies, facing each other, were seamlessly connected by means of two pedestrian crossing covers. This architectural marvel incorporated a substantial 30 tons of steel structure to ensure its stability, an expansive 1600 square meters of PVC fabric to provide shelter, and the addition of 36 LED lamps to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. The result was not only a practical solution but a visually stunning addition to the airport's infrastructure, elevating the passenger experience and offering respite from the elements.
