Birdair is proud to have been awarded the contract to design and install 59 tensile membrane canopy structures at the Ontario Sports Empire Complex. This includes 56 sports canopies, such as 36 soccer field covers, 18 small baseball canopies, and 2 larger baseball canopy structures, all made with durable PTFE mesh fabric. In addition, Birdair is creating 2 Family Gathering Canopies with solid PTFE-coated fiberglass and a Stage Tension Membrane Canopy for events. These innovative structures will provide shelter, enhance the complex’s aesthetic, and improve the experience for athletes, families, and spectators alike. Birdair's scope of work includes design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of the PTFE membrane, supporting structural steel framing, and the necessary clamping and hardware.
The Ontario Sports Empire is not part of a Major League Baseball (MLB) team but will be the new home for a Los Angeles Dodgers Single-A affiliate, which is scheduled to begin play in 2026. The complex includes a new minor league baseball stadium that will replace the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
