Stretching Possibilities: Greater Fort Lauderdale's New PTFE Tensile Amphitheater by Birdair Takes Center Stage!
As part of the $1.3 billion expansion of the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center, Birdair will soon begin construction on a new 1,850 sq. ft. PTFE tensile membrane amphitheater. Designed in a distinctive clam shell shape, the stage canopy will provide a striking venue for outdoor concerts and community events, complementing the newly revitalized waterfront park and plaza space. Birdair’s comprehensive scope of work includes the design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of the amphitheater’s steel support structure, PTFE-coated fiberglass membrane, and associated hardware. Nearby, visitors are welcomed by a 5,000 sq. ft. conical fabric structure at the convention center entrance—an iconic feature originally constructed by Birdair in 1991.
