Oklahoma City's Convention Center Gets an Upgrade Featuring ETFE Film Structures
The street out front of the Oklahoma City Convention Center received renovations including 10 identical shaped single layer ETFE film tensile canopy structures with supporting reinforcement cables by Birdair. These sculptural "tree-like" structures provide shade, weather protection, and a unique and wonderful pedestrian experience along Mick Cornett Street between the new MAPS 3 Oklahoma City Convention Center and the new Omni Convention Hotel. The total combined approximate plan area of the ETFE structures is 9,500 sq.ft. Birdair's scope included design, engineering, fabrication, and installation of the ETFE film, cables and clamping with the steel by others.
