Birdair’s project role consists of detailing, fabricating and supplying PTFE, a Teflon®-coated woven fiberglass membrane that will make up the facility’s tensile roofing system. Fonte Nova features three levels of seating in the shape of a horseshoe, with the opening at the southern end overlooking the picturesque Dique do Tororó. The oval-shaped roof design complies with FIFA World Cup guidelines to provide cover for the stadium’s 50,000 spectators while meeting aesthetic, acoustic and environmental impact requirements.

The 20th FIFA World Cup is scheduled for June 12 to July 13, 2014, in 12 Brazil host cities. For more information, visit: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/index.html.
